Is The Weekend Here Yet...

I really wish this week would go by faster!

I have a jam packed weekend of fun and I would like to get to it. My plans include

  • Dinner with friends at Duplex
  • Sangria Margaritas
  • UFC Fight
  • Shopping with E
  • Sunday movie with Super Bowl snacks
  • Sleep
  • Coffee
  • Not work

This week of work has been 99% hell and I need a break. Heck, this month has been pretty bad. The first month of the year isn't even over and I have taken 3.5 PTO days. I need a vacation. Anyone want to give me some ideas on where to go?

Awesome...

My spending hiatus was going well until I bought these.

Gilt Groupe was having a Hunter sale. I don't feel too badly though because I was planning on buying a pair anyway and I got them for $68.00 instead of the original price. I did manage to not buy the RayBan aviators for sale at RueLaLa (mainly because the pair I wanted was sold out.)

I got an email from NaBloPoMo that the February theme is Wants. How perfect is that? I am going to make it my new mission to post everyday in February with something that I want. I am sure that it will end up being mostly material items, but I will make an effort to come up with some original stuff too.

All Mine...

I know that I said I would be paying off a bunch of debt with my tax return and bonus check, but there is one thing I will be getting for myself. The new BlackBerry Curve.

My Dream Car...

I just read that BMW is going to start making these again. Something tells me they won't be as cute.

How I Spent My Saturday Night...

I had grandiose plans to make chicken gyros for dinner tonight, I even went to Super Target after work to pick up all the ingredients I needed but by the time I got home I was irritated by the multitude of idiotic drivers and I was starving so we ended up ordering pizza instead. I will make the gyros and junk tomorrow.

I was/am pretty exhausted from working today so I didn't feel like hanging out with anyone other than E tonight. He was watching boy shows (car auction, some show about Jesse James, you get the drift) so I decided that I would do my taxes. The process was pretty simple and soon I will be $6000.00 richer cha-ching! (Too bad I have to spend it all on bills and crap.)

Tomorrow is going to be a lazy Sunday. Brunch, lots of coffee, the Sunday paper and possibly a movie. I will also need to include some laundry and food preparation to the mix, but that's ok. I am not planning on going anywhere tomorrow, it is so freakin cold outside! This morning when I left for work it was -10. ICK!

Wondering...

If E and I are the only ones that rewind the DVR to see these commercials. This guy is so goofy. I just love them! I especially love his wonky eye.

Monies...

As you all know I have been trying to get my financial situation in a little better shape. I started today by cancelling stuff that we pay for on a monthly basis but never really use (HBO) I am also thinking of cancelling my WW membership and using SparkPeople since they are free. I cancelled a few credit cards (Limited and NY and Company) and started calling around for interest rate reductions on some other credit cards.

I also have a plan to pay off some higher credit card balances with my bonus checks that I have coming as well as my tax return. I have been debating on which cards I should pay off. I have ones with lower balances that I figured I would take care of first just to get them out of the way, but I have now made it my life's mission to rid myself of a Bank of America card. I have had this card for 3 years, have made every single payment on time and have always sent more than the minimum required amount. I have maxed the card out and paid it to zero more than once. Today I called for an interest rate reduction since I thought I was a good paying customer and they refused. I tried every trick in the book and they wouldn't budge. So Bank of America, in two weeks time I will be sending you a check for the full payment due and I will be closing my account with you. Forever.

Anyway, I have today off so I am trying to be domestic and get some laundry and cleaning done. I was going to go grocery shopping as well, but E took my car to work today. Unfortunately I have to work tomorrow. : (

Living On A Budget...

I am trying really hard to stick to a budget and not spend money on useless crap. I have pretty much cut out buying coffee from Starbucks and Caribou, I am not going to buy disposable clothes, and I am trying not to eat out as often.

Today I went through my magazine subscriptions and found a bunch that I am not going to renew and discovered that a lot of them that tell me I need to renew immediately are renewed already until 2011.

I am also going through my books and listing the ones that I will never read again on Amazon Marketplace.

I have already cleaned out my closet, bagged up old clothes to donate to charity and then went through again and purged some more. I realized that I got rid of a bunch of clothes that I never even wore. That is disposable my clothes have become. I need to be a lot more careful with stuff like that.

The biggest thing this year will be attempting to pay down/off the majority of my credit cards. I need to think about my spending before I just jump in head first. I always charge stuff with the thought that I will deal with it later.

I really don't think I need to worry about money as much as I am, but it is hard to sleep sometimes because I have all of these thoughts about money going through my head. I want to be proactive and hopefully be able to breathe a little bit easier.

Interview...

Ok, so Emma did this interview thing awhile ago and sent it to me and I am just getting around to filling it out. Oops.

If anyone else is interested in being interviewed leave me a comment and I will send you some questions. : )

1. How long have you been blogging? A little over a year.

And what got you started? I started reading other blogs and thought it would be fun.

2. What is your dream vacation and who would you take with you? I would love to go to Europe and just travel from country to country until I got tired of it and come home. I would bring E with me.

3. What you do want people to know about you if they were to remember you for one thing? Oh boy, I have no idea. My great fashion sense. That or my amazing cooking skills. ; )

4. What is your most memorable experience? Going to Florida with E. He took me to Disney World, and took me to see the ocean for the first time. That trip was also the first time I flew.

5. What's your favorite hobby? Playing piano or reading. I don't do either very often anymore.

New Stuff...

I recently received an invitation to Gilt.com. I had been searching high and low and finally found one. Just in time to buy this.

The Gryson Oliva handbag. I thought long and hard before buying this and I came really close to not completing the order, but for $248 when the original retail price was $788? Who doesn't jump at that?

To complete the look I snatched up this tissue tee from J Crew.

And these cute sailor jeans from GAP. I had some giftcards to use up so why not? The only thing this outfit needs now is those Marc Jacobs sunglasses.
I guess this is what happens when I stay home sick from work huh?

I Need...

I don't know what it is about me and sunglasses but I can never have enough. These Marc Jacobs shades are calling my name. I think I need to have them.
